Welcome to the 2018-2019 School Year at Jefferson!

The Jefferson Elementary PTA provides several programs to all students, including the Thanksgiving Feast, Science Olympiad, and Author Visits at no cost to the students or teachers. Check out a list of all the great things your PTA offers!

The PTA needs you!  Membership allows you to participate as a voting member in an organization that not only benefits your child, but all children at Jefferson.

Jefferson Elementary PTA 2018-19 - The Jefferson PTA is now on Facebook! Join our group Families of Jefferson 205 and you’ll get important PTA event reminders and announcements there. 

  • PTA Meeting on October 16 at 7pm in the Jefferson Multipurpose Room. Mrs. Weber will be presenting the Jefferson School Improvement Plan.
  • Last chance!  Join the PTA now to avoid losing access to your online directory, MySchoolAnywhere!
  • Please take the time to input or update your information in the Jefferson online directory, MySchoolAnywhere.  Start by downloading the app or going to the website  

Lunch Room/Playground Volunteers - Calling all volunteers!  Jefferson is in need of Lunch Room/Playground Volunteers for November. Lunch Room & Playground Volunteers assist the Lunch Room & Playground attendants in supporting the needs of all Jefferson students during lunch/recess time. Volunteers work the entire lunch shift, from 11am-12:30pm.  Parents may sign up to volunteer for one time or many! It's a great way to see your child(ren) in action at school!  Sign up via Sign-Up Genius for November at Contact Becca Harpster if you have any questions!


The Special Education Resource Group (SERG) - is thrilled to present an informative, insightful session showcasing the resources available from Pre-K to Post High School. Come hear valuable information on Special Education Resources Curriculum. Thursday, October 18, 2018 at 7pm, District Administration Office at 162 S York on 2nd floor.

Jefferson Moms Bunco - Who wants to play Bunco! Our First Jefferson moms Bunco night will be October 23rd at Jen Taylor’s House. Space is limited!! Don’t know how to play?! We can teach you!! We hope to play every other month and are looking for volunteers to host Bunco evenings. Please contact Laura WestKelly Perry or Jen Taylor for more details. Jefferson Trivia Night - Jefferson Parents, mark your calendars, book your sitters, organize your team and order your tickets. The first ever Jefferson Trivia Night will take place on November 2nd at Waterford Banquets, 933 S Riverside Drive in Elmhurst. Adults only! Doors open at 6.30pm, trivia begins at 7.30 pm. Cash bar, snacks, silent auction and prizes are all part of the experience. You can create your own team of 10 or we can help you become part of a team. Please use this form to order your tickets. Reflections Program - Does your student enjoy art, music and dance or have an interest in writing, producing films and taking photos? Then have them join us and have fun unleashing their inner artist with PTA Reflections! This year’s theme, “Heroes Around Me,” calls for their own unique interpretation through the arts. Click here for submission guidelines and an entry form.

Deadline is Friday, November 2nd, 2018. There will be a container available for submissions at the front desk. For questions, contact Deepa Thakar.


Jefferson Running Club (JRC) - We want to remind kids participating in running club to wear their necklaces on Mondays and Wednesdays so they can immediately attach their hard-earned charms. Also, please know there are more dates and times available to volunteer. Running club is able to operate safely and efficiently due to our wonderful parent volunteers!  If you have any questions regarding Running Club please contact: Shannon JacksonLaura White or Patty Gorski.


D205 Foundation - This year, students and staff are benefiting from over $192,000 in Foundation funding that provides educational enhancements, more resources and additional programming across all K-12 district schools. This is a direct result of community support, and we thank all of our donors for their generosity. We are currently seeking Foundation sponsors for this upcoming year. Contact our Executive Director at 630-617-2328 to learn more about this special opportunity.

  • Family Fun Obstacle Course Race at Berens Park - Families with children ages 6-12  are invited to participate in the Monsters & Munchkins Obstacle Course Race at Berens Park on October 21, 10:00 am to noon. This fully mobile 2km obstacle course is presented by Team Ignite, a not for profit group that promotes  physical fitness and offers a version of the course at two district elementary schools. The cost to participate is $25 and proceeds will benefit both The District 205 Foundation and Team Ignite. The Foundation provides additional resources and educational enhancements for all thirteen Public Schools. For information and registration, visit
  • Holiday Tree Sale: Orders due October 26th. 
    Support the charming Elmhurst tradition of tree lined streets by volunteering as a block captain or purchasing an outdoor or indoor tree. Neighborhood Tree Order deliveries Nov. 24th , pick up Dec. 1st. Visit for information and to place an order.
  • Harlem Wizards vs. D205 All-Stars Basketball Exhibition Event: Saturday., November 3rd 5:00 pm.  York High School

Jefferson PTA Board Statement - The Jefferson PTA Board has chosen to take an educational and informational approach to the upcoming D205 Facilities Referendum. We believe we best fulfill our mission “to engage and empower families and communities to advocate for all children” by providing you with the materials necessary to make an informed decision. We encourage our Jefferson parents to take a look at the D205 referendum website, go to an informational meeting (see Referendum 101 coming soon), and take a school tour. Thanks to our families for your dedication to our school and our wider community, and please let any Board member know if you have any questions.

  • Referendum 101 - Join the Elmhurst PTA Council on Wednesday, October 24 at York High School Commons at 7pm for an overview of the District 205 Facilities Referendum on the ballot November 6. Superintendent David Moyer and School Board President Kara Caforio will present a brief overview and answer the most frequently asked questions. Attendees will then have the opportunity to ask additional questions to better understand the details of the referendum. Chris Whelton, Asst. Superintendent for Finance and Operations, and Todd Schmidt, Director of Building and Ground, will also be available to answer questions. All Elmhurst residents are welcome!  
  • District 205 Foundation Referendum Informational Meeting - Please join the D205 Foundation for a Referendum Informational Meeting at the Elmhurst Public Library on Thursday, October 18 at 7pm. 
  • Elmhurst Teachers’ Council Statement - The Elmhurst Teachers’ Council released an official statement endorsing the District 205 Facilities Referendum of November 6, 2018. Click here for the full statement.
  • Jefferson School Pathway Impact - $8 million of improvements are planned to Jefferson. Students at Jefferson will also benefit from work being done at Bryan/Sandburg and York. To see how the District 205 Facilities Referendum will impact Jefferson, Bryan and York, see the attached document.

Science Olympiad Thank you! - Thank you to Carly Scharfenburg-Grant and Meredith Vogel for co-chairing another successful Science Olympiad!  Thanks also to all of the parent volunteers who worked the event.  A great time was had by all!
