Jefferson Elementary School

Winter Carnival

Date: Saturday, February 24, 2018

The kids love this (fundraising) event! They have a blast playing carnival games throughout the school and turning in their prize tickets for super cool stuff. In alternate years, the committee holds a silent auction for parents. Chairs coordinate volunteers to manage games, food, decorations, prizes, and setup/tear down.

The Winter Carnival is Jefferson’s biggest fundraiser!

What: Jefferson Winter Carnival
When: February
Where: Jefferson Elementary School
Who: All Jefferson Families and Friends

What’s the Jefferson Winter Carnival?

This is a PTA sponsored event for the whole family!  Not just your Jefferson Student!  There are over 20+ carnival games, a Cake Walk, Face Painters, Balloon Twister, Tiger Bucks, Food, Raffles, Auction, Prizes and lots of fun!

What is the price of admission?  You have two options…

  1. This year you can purchase wristbands!  Purchase your wristbands in advance of the event or at the event.  Order forms went home on January 29th.  Advanced purchase of the wristbands are $15 by Feb. 16th, and $20 at the door.  The wristband allows children unlimited access to games.  All kids playing the games will need a wristband.  Please make your checks payable to Jefferson PTA and put Winter Carnival on the outside of the envelope.  The wristbands will be available for pick up the day of the Carnival.
  2. Tickets.  You may purchase game tickets the day of the Carnival.  They are $1 per ticket.

***All kids not paying for games with tickets must wear a wristband***

What is the charge for adults to attend the carnival?

There is no charge for adult chaperones.

What is not covered with the wristband

Cake Walk, Tiger Bucks, Food, Raffles, Auction, and the Experience Parties.

What is the Cake Walk?

You will need a ticket to participate in the Cake Walk.  Your kids can win a pre-packaged yummy baked good just for stepping on the right square!  How easy!  These desserts are ready for pick-up when you leave the carnival.

What’s Tiger Bucks?

Feeling lucky?  Pull a rolled up Tiger Buck from the bucket to win a prize!  Each try is $1.  See question about helping by donating to Tiger Bucks – gift cards, cash, and prizes!  Nothing is too big or too small!

What is the Carnival Basket Raffle?

Each class is being asked to gather items to place in a basket for our Raffle, which means there will be over 15 baskets brimming with goodies, toys, sports themes, fitness packages, and local treats. If you can, please donate towards your class basket.  You can contact your room parent for details.

What is the Class Fingerprint Art Auction?

Each class creates a piece of fingerprint art (platters, bowls, vases, etc.) that are auctioned off every year.  Bid early & bid often.

What is a Carnival Game and can you win prizes?

There are over 20+ Carnival games – including an all-time favorite of WetHead.  Each player wins a ticket – either a “thanks for playing” or a “winner” ticket.  Tickets can be turned in for prizes!  All new prizes this year too!

Any ideas for dinner after the Carnival?

Yep.  Got you covered.  Head over to HBJones and mention Jefferson or the Jefferson Dad’s Club!  HB is going to give 25% of all checks that mention Jefferson to the Jefferson Dad’s Club.  Thanks Dads for taking care of dinner!

Are they the same games as before?

Nope.  All new!  New games, new look and new feel!  Some of the same themes, but look for your favorites (Cake Walk and Tiger Bucks)!

How do I buy Raffle Tickets?

You can buy Raffle Tickets at the Carnival.  They are $1 per ticket or $20 for #25 tickets, $50 for #60 tickets.  You use these for the Teacher Raffle and Basket Raffle.

How can I help?

Thanks so much for asking!  This whole event happens with the help of all of our parents!  Here are some ways to help….

There is a lot of work that goes into planning, setting up, running, and breaking down this event.  Parents from every classroom are needed to work at least one carnival game or prize room or food booth for 30 minutes.  If you have time to spare, please use the Sign-Up Genius to select your time slot.

If you don't have time to volunteer, but would still like to donate - then please consider Tiger Bucks!  No prize, gift card or cash donation is too small or too big!

How do I sign up to work a time slot?

Look in your Tiger Beat email for the link to the Sign-up Genius!  Just so you know…if we don’t have enough volunteers then we won’t be able to run all the games.  Volunteering at the Carnival is a fun and rewarding experience. Middle school and high school students that need community service hours, we will supply you the opportunity!

What is the Teacher’s Raffle?

The Teacher’s Raffle is a raffle held the day of the carnival where a student has a unique opportunity to win some special time with their favorite teacher. Teachers choose an event to be raffled off (cookies after school, special lunch together, etc.). It can be an individual or a group event. The Teacher’s Raffle is always fun, creates special memories for the students and at the same time, raises money for our school.

How much money should I bring to the Carnival?

Bring cash and your checkbook (we don’t take credit cards or IOUs).  You will need money to purchase tickets for Cake Walk, day-of game tickets (if you don’t opt for the wristband), Raffle Tickets, Auction, Food and Tiger Bucks!  You will also need to pay for your Fingerprint Auction Art & Experience Party buy-in.  Bid early and bid often!

Is there food?

We will have affordably-priced, delicious carnival fare!

What’s an Experience Party?

Want to hang out with your Jefferson friends and raise money for our school?  Consider hosting a party!  See Tiger Beat for some ideas.  If you can’t host a party this year, then please consider attending!  These are fun ways to meet your fellow Jefferson parents!  Each party has a max.  Sign-ups fill up fast – be sure to stop and check out what’s available early in your visit to the carnival!

Wait…I have more questions…Who can I ask?

Please email your questions  to  You can also ask your fellow Jefferson parents…or ask the kids!  They seem to know EVERYTHING!
